If you have to stick an EQ on the master to cut the highs to get that sound, so be it. In the end what matters is that you're able to get the sound you want.
#IZOTOPE OZONE 8 LOGIC PRO PRO#
In fact I've heard from several very high profile producers that Logic's summing algorithm sounds much WARMER than Pro Tools', close to the Sony Oxford console's algorithms, only at a fraction of the price. can I save my logic projects by importing the files into Reaper?)Įvery audio engine has its own sound, so bring your audio files in another DAW, attempt to get the same mix (which may be impossible anyway: i.e.: Pro Tools uses a -2.5 dB pan law, while Logic gives you the choice between - 3 dB, - 3 dB compensated or 0 dB - so the only way to get the exact same mix in Logic and in PT would be to use your ears to compensate for those differences), and you'll get different results.

The only way we could get Logic to sound as natural as Reaper was to add an EQ cut around 5K and a little at around 1.3K, and roll off the top end to about 16K.Īnd my bigger question - would the sound of a program be 'glued' to the files that are recorded in it, or would the files I've recorded in Logic take on the sound of another sequencer if I exported/imported? (i.e. Neither of us could really even describe the strange difference in sound, but we A/B'd with files recorded in Reaper, all things being equal (same mic, preamp, settings, room etc.) and the difference was obvious.

Then I had an engineer friend over who noticed right away and my suspicion was confirmed. compared to other programs, but could never find any support for this suspicion online, so wrote it off as a misperception on my part. I've long suspected that Logic 8 just sounds 'cold' 'tinny' 'brittle' etc.
